Rabbits are fairly small animals, but they are a creature that requires a lot of space to perform their natural behaviours and are very active. When selecting a hutch or living space for your rabbit you need to ensure it has plenty of room for your rabbit to perform their natural behaviours.
When we are looking to introduce two rabbits, we are looking to bond them. A lot of rabbits may not bond straight away, so it is important to ensure this is a slow process.
Rabbits are social animals and in the wild will live in large group. Ensuring your pet rabbit has a companion can reduce their anxiety, stress and keep them happy. When rabbits are housed alone they may feel isolated, bored or frustrated. Rabbits should not be housed with other species of animals, such as guinea pigs, as they both require different needs from diet and social support.
Rabbits are herbivores, eat mostly plants and plant-based foods. Feeding rabbits the wrong things can lead to serious health problems, such as dental disease and gut status, and a balanced diet is important to keep them happy and healthy. If changes are needed for your rabbit’s diet, it is important to make these changes slowly to prevent an upset stomach.
