We are fortunate to have a visiting dermatologist, David Godfrey, regularly visit our surgery at Stoke Road. David sees dog and cat dermatology cases and is happy to advise on all sorts of skin and ear problems for pets in the Milton Keynes area. David Godfrey also performs BAER hearing tests to check for hearing problems in puppies, kittens and adult dogs and cats.
Treating skin and ear problems in cats and dogs can be tricky. There are many diseases that can be cured but some pets have problems due to an underlying allergy or because their skin is not functioning effectively. Unfortunately, for these pets, special care and treatments may have to be provided for the whole of their lives.
When should I see a dermatologist for my pet?
A dermatology referral can be particularly useful for the following types of cases:
- Itchy skin
- Ear problems
- Overgrooming pets
- Feet and claw problems
- Any skin or ear problem that is not getting better
Our dermatology consultant, David Godfrey, can perform intra-dermal allergy testing to help treat allergic dogs and cats, and video otoscopy to help diagnose and treat dogs and cats with complex ear problems.
Please speak to your veterinary surgeon about a referral or visit David’s website for more information – see below.
