Physiotherapy referrals for your pet

Milton Keynes Veterinary Group works closely with local pet physiotherapist Nisha Tosar, who runs Paws & Hooves Animal Physiotherapy, where they treat all types of small animals at their purpose-built rehabilitation centre in Milton Keynes.

We are pleased to offer referrals for pets who could benefit from physiotherapy and/or hydrotherapy.

When should I see a physiotherapist for my pet?

Physiotherapy is a non-invasive complementary therapy, used to aid the natural healing of musculoskeletal conditions associated with neurological and orthopaedic conditions, as well as the management of arthritis and muscular problems.

It encourages your animal to heal naturally and efficiently using manual therapies, electrotherapies and remedial exercises. Physiotherapy can help with:

  • Orthopaedic conditions
  • Management of arthritis
  • Muscular problems
  • Neurological conditions

How can hydrotherapy help my pet?

Paws & Hooves also offer hydrotherapy in their underwater treadmill which has multiple benefits. Hydrotherapy allows an animal to exercise in a supported and controlled environment with the ability to change the water level to suit the individual needs of the animal.

Physiotherapy exercises in the water can encourage extension, flexion and paw placement. Hydrotherapy is also great to help to strengthen sporting dogs, preventing injury and maintaining fitness.
