Join Us for an Evening Talk: The Vet Visit Starts at Home
How to help your dog feel safer with handling, examinations and treatment
We’re delighted to be collaborating with Delders Dogs to bring our clients a special evening talk focused on helping dogs feel more comfortable and confident when being handled.
A visit to the vets doesn’t just start when you walk through our doors. The experiences and training you provide at home can make a real difference to how your dog copes with veterinary examinations, grooming and everyday handling.
Join us for a practical and informative session with Adam Delderfield, dog trainer and founder of Delders Dogs, where he’ll share simple strategies that you can use at home to help make handling and veterinary visits easier for both you and your dog.
What will the talk cover?
During the session, Adam will cover:
🐾 Puppy handling and prevention
Learn how positive experiences from an early age can help prevent handling difficulties as your puppy grows.
🐾 Permission-based handling
Discover how giving your dog choice and control can help them feel safer and more comfortable when being handled.
🐾 Understanding canine body language
Learn to recognise the signs that your dog is comfortable, worried or becoming stressed, helping you respond before they become overwhelmed.
🐾 Helping dogs who find vet visits stressful
Practical strategies for dogs who already struggle with veterinary visits, examinations or being handled.
🐾 Everyday handling at home
Learn how to build your dog’s confidence around things such as having their ears, paws, teeth and body checked.
Meet Adam Delderfield
Adam Delderfield is an award-winning dog trainer, founder of Delders Dogs and winner of the School of Canine Science Trainer of the Year award.
Adam began his dog-training journey in 2014 and has spent more than a decade studying why dogs develop behavioural problems and, importantly, how many of these problems can be prevented.
Delders Dogs has been running puppy classes in Milton Keynes for more than five years, taking a different approach to traditional puppy training. Rather than focusing solely on commands such as sit, down and stay, Adam’s programmes focus on helping owners understand puppy development, body language, handling, confidence and socialisation.
The aim is to help create confident, resilient family dogs that are better equipped to cope with the real world.
Adam’s philosophy is simple: if problem behaviours can often be predicted, many of them can also be prevented.
