How MKVG is Reducing Anaesthetic Gas Impact

At MKVG we are committed to sustainability. Through our involvement with Investors in the Environment we achieved Green Level accreditation at our audit in 2025 and as we continue to improve our sustainability as a practice, we have introduced exciting n ew technology at our Willen branch.

This year we installed an anaesthetic gas capture system which replaces the standard filter system to capture waste anaesthetic agents. This is both advantageous to our team and the environment as a whole. Our anaesthetic gases account for around 10% of our carbon footprint at MKVG, and reducing their impact as greenhouse gases is an exciting step forward for the veterinary industry in helping to tackle climate change.

The SageTech gas capture technology captures the anaesthetic agents (sevoflurane) into a reusable capture canister, which is extracted and recycled for future clinical use. We are proud to support new initiatives as we continue to provide high quality sustainable veterinary care.
