Cardiology
At Milton Keynes Veterinary Group, we offer a comprehensive cardiology service to diagnose and treat heart conditions in pets. Our experienced veterinary surgeons, Lawrence Smith and Rachel Church, specialise in investigating heart murmurs, arrhythmias, episodes of weakness, collapse, exercise intolerance, and fluid around the heart or lungs. Our state-of-the-art equipment, including modern ECG machine, x-ray, and heart ultrasound, allow us to provide the highest standard of care for your pet.
Dermatology
We are lucky to have David Godfrey, a visiting dermatologist, regularly consulting at our Stoke Road surgery. David specialises in diagnosing and treating skin and ear problems in dogs and cats. If your pet suffers from itchy skin, ear problems, overgrooming, or baldness, a dermatology referral could be the solution. David is also experienced in performing BAER hearing tests to detect hearing issues in puppies, kittens, and adult pets.
Dentistry
With our fully equipped Dental Suite and comprehensive dental x-ray system, we can detect hidden dental issues, both above and below the gum line, ensuring your pet receives the best care possible. Veterinary Surgeon Bob Smith, who holds an additional certificate in Veterinary Dentistry, works closely with Director Debbie Kilkenny to provide advanced dental care for your pet. With digital x-rays available at both Walnut Tree and Stoke Road surgeries, we can assess and treat your pet’s oral health thoroughly.
Internal Medicine
Our veterinary surgeons Rachel Church, Amanda Ross, Lawrence Smith, and Andre Cilliers, hold advanced qualifications in internal medicine and treat a variety of internal medicine conditions, including:

Ophthalmology
Whether it’s issues with the eyes, eyelids, cornea, lens, or retina, we have invested in advanced ophthalmological equipment including a Tonopen to measure intra-ocular pressure, a Slit Lamp to assess the cornea and inside the eye, and an operating microscope for precise eye and eyelid surgery. If your pet needs a referral, veterinary surgeons Matt Lloyd (who holds BSAVA Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Ophthalmology) and our experienced Director Philip Hanlon are our ophthalmology vets ready to provide top-level care.
Physiotherapy
Milton Keynes Veterinary Group is proud to work with local pet physiotherapist Nisha Tosar of Paws & Hooves Animal Physiotherapy. Nisha offers physiotherapy and hydrotherapy for small animals at her purpose-built rehabilitation centre in Milton Keynes. Physiotherapy is ideal for pets with musculoskeletal, neurological, and orthopaedic conditions, including arthritis, muscular issues, or after surgery. Hydrotherapy, using an underwater treadmill, provides a supportive environment to strengthen muscles and prevent injury.
Surgical
Rory Burke, Marina Crockford, Carl Jarrett, and Joanna Davies, our skilled veterinary surgeons, bring extensive expertise in both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical procedures. They have dedicated much of their careers to these specialised areas, with Joanna and Rory also holding additional post graduate qualifications. Our Walnut Tree Hospital is fully equipped for a range of orthopaedic, soft tissue, and specialist surgeries such as TPLO and thyroidectomy, with exceptional post-surgery care provided by our experienced nursing team. Some of the surgical procedures we offer include fracture repairs, cruciate surgery, luxating patella surgery, thyroidectomy, subtotal colectomy (for mega colon), and more.
Brachycephalic Surgery
Brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Pugs often suffer from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a condition caused by narrowed airways, leading to breathing difficulties, noisy breathing, and trouble exercising or sleeping. Corrective surgery can help improve your dog’s quality of life by widening the nostrils, reducing the soft palate, or removing excess laryngeal mucosa. Carl Jarrett, our veterinary surgeon, specialises in these surgical techniques to enhance airflow and ease respiratory distress.
