Rabbit Companionship

Rabbits are social animals and in the wild will live in large group. Ensuring your pet rabbit has a companion can reduce their anxiety, stress and keep them happy. When rabbits are housed alone they may feel isolated, bored or frustrated. Rabbits should not be housed with other species of animals, such as guinea pigs, as they both require different needs from diet and social support.

It is recommended for rabbits to be housed in a bonded pair such as a neutered male and neutered female.

If you have an existing pet rabbit and you would like them to have a companion, we would recommend contacting your local rabbit rescue to see if they have a suitable friend looking for a new home.

If you are housing a male and female together, it is be recommended to get them neutered to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
