Preventing a Fireworks Frenzy: When to seek veterinary guidance
Animals may respond in different ways to fireworks, some may show signs they are obviously scared, while others may show more subtle signs of worry or ways of coping.
Here is a reminder of the signs and behaviours shared earlier this month our pets may show.
If you know that your pet is affected by fireworks or feel they are showing subtle signs of worry around this time of year, please contact the practice as soon as possible to discuss further. At your independent veterinary practice, Milton Keynes Veterinary Group, we can discuss a variety of options which may fit your pet and the behaviours they are showing – these vary from phermomones, calming supplements to prescription medications.
Prescription medicines may be indicated for more severe cases. Non-prescription, or ‘over the counter options’, are also available to help reduce our pets noise phobias. There are several newly developed products available, please speak to one of our Client Care team to find out more about supportive care available for your pet.
We recommend discussing all the options available with one of our team well in advance of the fireworks period so we can ensure your pet gets the support they need with the most effective products.
