Osteoarthritis management: Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy
Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy are both useful aids to improving your pet’s mobility. This can be beneficial after a surgical procedure, as well as for long term management of an arthritic animal. You are likely to need consent from a veterinary surgeon to attend a centre, so you may benefit from an appointment with one of our vets to discuss whether this treatment would be a sensible option for your pet. Many insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost for complimentary therapies such as hydrotherapy or physiotherapy, but this will vary with individual policies. If your veterinary surgeon is happy for your pet to attend hydrotherapy or physiotherapy, we can advise you on local hydrotherapy and physiotherapy centres. We routinely work closely with Nisha Tosar at Paws and Hooves Animal Physiotherapy for any patients needing alternative medicine within their management of this condition.
