Electricity Use Reduction in Our Sustainability Journey
As part of our sustainability journey with Investors in the Environment, we closely monitor a range of resources across our five practices. We compare this to previous years and normalise these figures to our workload.
Over the next few months we will highlight each resource in turn to share the changes we have implemented to drive sustainability in our practice whilst maintaining high quality veterinary care.
Electricity ⚡
- We have been monitoring our electricity usage since 2021, with a usage of 135558kWh in 2021 and 125092kWh in 2025
- At our Willen site we have motion-sensored lights in our consulting rooms
- Across all sites, we operate a ‘switch-off’ scheme for lights and computer monitors when not in use
- We have a red and green sticker system on all electrical items at all sites, to encourage switch off for all non-essential electrical items
- We have set our thermostats to keep the heat level consistent and comfortable for our staff and clients
- We have a hot water dispenser at our Walnut Tree branch which is a more energy efficient option
These changes have had a positive impact in supporting our sustainability goals while maintaining excellent veterinary care.
