Betsy is Hooked!
Here at Milton Keynes Veterinary Group, our team see a wide range of cases and conditions, but sometimes even they can be surprised! Betsy visited the clinic at the end of June 2023 after her humans noticed some wire protruding from her mouth. The team confirmed with x-rays that Betsy’s owners had rightly guessed it was a fishing line, complete with hook, that had become lodged in her oesophagus. After anaesthetising Betsy, Matt, one of our veterinary surgeons, was able to safely remove the hook and line with specialist equipment from her mouth, without the need for potentially complex surgery or referral. Betsy recovered well, with no damage to her mouth and was back home with her owners the same day.
Betsy’s was a interesting case, to remove such a sharp hook without causing any additional damage was a real challenge and we are so pleased to have such a lovely outcome for Betsy and her owners.
